Are you ready to shape the financial backbone of a fast-growing scale-up? As an Accounting Specialist at Holzkern, you will work directly with our Head of Finance & Corporate Development at the intersection of finance and nearly all other functions of the company. This high-impact role offers a unique opportunity to dive deep into strategic decision-making supported by financial analysis, while playing a central role in structuring, optimizing, and developing accounting processes.

Your areas of responsibility
  • Support in accounting processes, such as invoice processing, pay run batches, invoice control, and monthly statement preparation
  • Assist with reporting, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and documentation for external accountants
  • Contribute to controlling processes, such as revenue and COGS controlling, monthly recognition of revenue and costs, and key account reviews
  • Drive process optimization by improving accounting, reporting, controlling, and related workflows
  • Act as a sparring partner to the Head of Finance & Corporate Development in designing and implementing new processes
  • Manage and maintain process documentation and SOPs
  • Provide financial guidance in projects, particularly in expansion and investment decisions
Your profile
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting with 3+ years experience in accounting
  • Strong interest in startups and scale-ups with a passion for accounting, structure, and process optimization
  • Hands-on, ownership-driven mindset and motivation to learn quickly
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with numbers and abstract concepts
  • Professional, discreet, and able to handle confidential topics with integrity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in cross-functional settings
  • Flexible and adaptable to change, with resilience under pressure
  • Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
  • Experience with accounting software such as BMD, DATEV, or ERP systems; proficient in Google Sheets; bonus points for BI or reporting tools
  • Organized, proactive, and able to juggle multiple tasks independently
  • Eager to gain a holistic understanding of company financials and contribute to long-term growth

Working Hours: 30h or 38,5h per week
Salary: The salary for this position starts at 2.800 per month. Your actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications – we are happy to offer more for exceptional candidates.
Duration: 3-month probationary period, into a permanent position
Location: Our headquarters in Vienna, on a hybrid WFH basis
